for piano solo, flute, clarinet B, horn, viola, doublebass

The composition “S’Morzando“ (2006) was written in the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth. This remarkable event became one of the impulses behind the creation of this composition, which actually contains some Mozart quotes (two direct quotes from the second movement of the piano concerto in C major, K.503).

These quotes are not merely slated but are implanted, as it were, in the structure of the work; the quotes become original cadenzas at the end of the composition. Beyond this, the whole piece is something of a quote – here Mozart’s refined grace grows  to include the whole ensemble, gradually replacing the initial quotes. As the work develops, Mozart’s material is transfigured  – only echoes of the quotes remain, incorporated into  elements of natural scale.
